Greetings and salutations. This young man is Simkus. He has 18 turns and was raised near Ruatha Hold. He has two brothers and a sister. Their parents hold a small place and farm it. His sire is Voobah and was raised by his sire to hold the land. His eldest brother is currently being trained to take over for their sire. His dame is Sonia. She really wanted to be a Harper, but is tone deaf. Their parents were tough with their discipline when they misbehaved, and were gracious when they did something right.

On Simkus's 15th turn his parents talked to him about what he wanted to do. As he was unsure of what he wanted to become, they agreed that he would take some time to travel Pern to visit the crafthalls and see if any one of them interested him.

He spent time near Fort Hold, visiting the Harper and Healer Halls. After he had seen how life there was he arranged passage on a ship to the Xanadu area. He first visited the Hold, then he visited the Weaver and Smith Halls. He then visited the Herder Hall and was given a guided tour by Master Kithren. Master Kithren spent time answering the questions Simkus had, and providing some information that he did not think to ask.

Since this tour he spent time going over everything and as decided to apply to the Herder Hall to become an apprenticeship.

Simkus has had a pretty successful time in the Herder Hall since he joined. He has worked hard, first earning the rank of Senior Apprentice. After this he worked even harder to try and earn the rank of Journeyman. First he had to do a Journeyman project, which he worked on with Lasarah. Together they planned, organized, and put on a gather in the Xanadu Hold/Herder Hall areas. Events included a dance, an auction, a runner race, and a sand castle building contest.

Shortly after the gather was finished Simkus was sent north to Benden Hold to assist the journeyman there with various Herder duties. When his duties there were done he returned to Herder, and shortly afterwords Lasarah and himself were promoted by Craft Master Lisel. Lasarah and Simkus are both now awaiting to be posted somewhere.

Simkus' younger siblings have both set out in the crafts. His younger brother, Darien, has followed in his footsteps and became a Herder, while his sister, Trenatee, has become a Harper.
